The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that U.S. Route 1 in Branford is scheduled to be closed to traffic to facilitate the installation of a new Box Culvert just north of the Amtrak Railroad Bridge. There will be no access to north or south along Route 1 between the I-95 on and off ramps at Exit 53, referred to as the Branford Connector, and Route 142 (Short Beach Road). ConnDOT eAlert: News from the Connecticut Department of Transportation

Schedule Change on Shore Line East; OpSail Trains Added

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (ConnDOT) today announced a Shore Line East (SLE) schedule change which will begin on Monday, July 2, 2012. With the completion of Amtrak's River Road rail bridge project in Madison, this SLE schedule will return most trains to their pre-construction schedule times. However, there are some minor schedule adjustments to accommodate work being performed by Amtrak on the Niantic rail bridge in East Lyme.

Timetables will include the special rail service being provided for the three-day OpSail 2012 event in New London, July 6, 7 and 8.

Northbound Q Bridge Opening and Ancillary Lane Closures/Detours Go Smoothly; Normal Monday Commute Expected

This weekend's reopening of the northbound "Q Bridge" on I-95 in New Haven and the associated lane closures and detours resulted in minimal traffic back-ups and, overall, went extremely well, according to Connecticut Department of Transportation officials. The final northbound changeover work was completed early today, more than 24 hurs ahead of schedule despite torrential weekend rains.
