The Connecticut Department of Transportation will conduct a Public Informational Meeting concerning the Replacement of Bridge Nos. 02219 (1.9 miles North of Route 111) and 02220 (2.5 miles North of Route 111) on Route 25 (Main Street) in the Town of Monroe on Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at the Monroe Town Hall Offices, Council Chambers, 7 Fan Hill Road, Monroe, Connecticut. Department personnel will be available at 6:30 p.m. to answer questions prior to a formal design presentation at 7:00 p.m.

Overnight Route 1 Closure for Amtrak Bridge Replacement Project in Branford

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that the existing bridge beams for the Amtrak Bridge over U.S. Route 1 in the Town of Branford are scheduled to be removed as work progresses into final stages. This will require that U.S. Route 1 be temporarily closed to through traffic for the removal of the beam between the hours of 9 p.m. Saturday January 12, until 12 p.m. (Noon) on Sunday January 13, 2013.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation will be rerouting Route 139 traffic onto the newly constructed section and permanently closing the existing Rt. 139 in North Branford just south of the Sun Tech property as part of the Rt. 80 widening project. The shift begins Wednesday December 19, 2012.

The cars were delivered to Camp Hartell in Windsor Locks, where the Military Department operates the New England Disaster Training Center.

Modest Rail Fare Increase Take Effect January 1, 2013

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (DOT) reminds passengers that the second of three modest fare increases will go into effect on January 1, 2013. Monthly tickets on sale for January will reflect the new fares. The new fares will take effect on Shore Line East and New Haven Line rail services. There will be no fare increase on bus services.

The stoppages will occur between the hours of 12 AM and 5 AM, Tuesday through Saturday, December 11, 2012, through January 12, 2013, weather permitting. Work will not occur during restricted holiday periods. The traffic stoppages are necessary to facilitate steel erection.
