Credit Cards Now Accepted on Danbury Branch Rail Line

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (DOT) today announced that commuters on the Danbury Branch of the New Haven rail line may now use credit cards to purchase tickets on board the train. It is part of a pilot project before opening up the entire New Haven Line to credit card usage next year.

ConnDOT eAlert: Construction News from the Connecticut Department of Transportation

Plans Under Development for Mid-block Crosswalks on Route 137 (Washington Boulevard) between Tresser Boulevard and Broad Street in Stamford

The Connecticut Department of Transportation's Office of Engineering is developing plans to provide pedestrian access between the east and west sides of Route 137 by installing High-intensity Activated crossWalK beacon (HAWK) systems at two separate locations. An existing crosswalk located on Route 137, just south of Bell Street, would be upgraded and the existing traffic signal would be replaced with the HAWK system. A new pedestrian crosswalk with the HAWK system is also being proposed on Route 137 for access between the Mill River Park on the west side and parking garages on the east side of the roadway.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (DOT) today opened bids for the long-anticipated I-84 widening project in Waterbury and I-84 Constructors Joint Venture is the apparent low bidder for the contract at $260.55 million. The DOT now has 60 days to review the three bids received and will then award a contract; some preliminary work will begin before the end of 2014, and full construction will begin in the spring of 2015.
