Web Version     Connecticut Department of Transportation CTDOT Initiates Additional Review for Walk Bridge Project as Follow-up to Public Meeting Posted on July 31 , 2020 In response to public comment and feedback received during and after the June 16th online public informational meeting regarding the use of Manresa Island as a construction staging area for the Walk Railroad Bridge replacement project, the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is further reviewing potential traffic, noise, and environmental concerns, as well as compiling additional information for site staging alternatives. The purpose of this effort is to add to the existing body of knowledge from  previously conducted studies concerning these topics, and to inform and share this information with the City of Norwalk, stakeholders and the public in September 2020. The June 16th online public informational meeting attracted approximately 150 participants and a high volume of comments and questions.  The Department will provide responses to all comments and inquiries received before, during, and after the online public meeting, in August, 2020. A video of the June 16th online public informational meeting presentation can be viewed on the Walk Bridge Program website: www.walkbridgect.com.  The Walk Bridge Program consists of more than a half dozen infrastructure projects that increase safety, reliability and ease of travel throughout Norwalk and the Northeast Rail Corridor.  This Program advances Norwalk's railroad transportation infrastructure into the 21st century, while improving local roads and sidewalks for motorists, pedestrians and cyclists. Spanning the Norwalk River, the Walk Bridge is more than 120 years old; it is a critical link in the Northeast Corridor and carries more than 200 trains per day. Web Version     Connecticut Department of Transportation CTDOT and the Connecticut Childrens Medical Center Issue Warning about High Heat Levels in Cars Posted on July 27 , 2020 With temperatures soaring into the 90s, the Connecticut Department of Transportation and the Connecticut Children's Medical Center today issued a reminder to parents and pet owners about the dangers of high levels of heat that can rapidly develop in parked cars. A child's body temperature rises three to five times faster than an adult's. Never leave your child or pet in a parked car even for a quick errand. It only takes a few minutes for the temperature inside a parked vehicle to jump 10, 15, 20 degrees or more, even with the windows open. Each year, the two organizations join to underscore the national campaign mounted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which can be found here: https://www.nhtsa.gov/child-safety/help-prevent-hot-car-deaths. Masks will be available for bus riders in the morning (7:00-9:00 AM) and the afternoon (3:00-5:00 PM). Face coverings are required on public transit and by Governor Lamont's Executive Order to help stop the spread of COVID-19 in Connecticut. Web Version     Connecticut Department of Transportation Nighttime Resurfacing of Interstate 95 Ramps at Exits 34 and 35 in Milford - Detour Required Posted on July 22 , 2020 The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that a nighttime milling and resurfacing project will be performed on Interstate 95 Ramps at Exits 34 and 35 in Milford, beginning the evening of Sunday, July 26, 2020. A detour will be required. The project consists of milling and resurfacing 1.36 miles of Ramps on Interstate 95 in Milford.  This project is scheduled to occur Sunday, July 26, 2020 through Tuesday, August 4, 2020.  The milling segment of this project is anticipated to be performed on Sunday, July 26, 2020 through Tuesday, July 28, 2020.  The resurfacing segment of this project is anticipated to be performed on Sunday, August 2, 2020 through Tuesday, August 4, 2020.    LANE CLOSURE INFO Motorists can expect closures on Exit 34 on/off ramps Northbound and Southbound, Exit 35 off ramp Northbound and Exit 35 on ramp Southbound.  Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone.   Detour Info:   For the Exit 34 Northbound and Southbound Closure: Use Exit 35, South on Schoolhouse Road to Route 1   For the Exit 35 Northbound Closure: Use Exit 36, South on Plains Road to Route 1   The regular work schedule for this project is 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. (Sunday night through Friday morning) Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions.  Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity. Web Version     Connecticut Department of Transportation Pavement Marking Project on Route 190 in Stafford Posted on July 22 , 2020 The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that pavement marking changes will be implemented on Route 190 at Route 32 to improve the functionality of the rotary in Stafford beginning Tuesday, August 11, 2020.   Safety Markings, Inc. in cooperation with the Department of Transportation will be restriping the rotary at Route 190 (E. Jct.) and Route 32 (S. Jct.).  These pavement marking improvements are being performed to bring the circulatory roadway closer to the standards of a modern roundabout and to improve the overall functionality and safety of the intersection.    The pavement marking improvements will result in the Route 190 (E. Jct.) at Route 32 (S. Jct.) traffic to experience momentary delays due to either lanes closures and or temporary traffic halts.  The work is anticipated to begin on Tuesday, August 11, 2010 at 8:00 a.m. and continue until complete in the same evening or early morning hours of Wednesday, August 12, 2020.   LANE CLOSURE INFO Route 190 (E.
