Nighttime Utility Project on Merritt Parkway in Fairfield and Norwalk

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing a utility project on Route 15 (Merritt Parkway) north and south that will involve short-term traffic halts that will occur between 9:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 20 into Monday, September 21, 2020.

The project consists of installing new cables and fiber optic lines on existing utility poles across Route 15 northbound and southbound at Sport Hill Road (Route 59) in Fairfield, between Exits 47 and 46, at Main Avenue (Route 719) in Norwalk, and between exits 40b and 40a, on Route 15. The new cable and fiber lines cross over Route 15 requiring traffic halts.

     This project is being performed by a utility under a Highway Encroachment Permit.

 

LANE CLOSURE INFO

Motorists can expect lane closures and traffic halts on Route 15 northbound and southbound in Fairfield and Trumbull between exits 48 and 44, and on Route 15 northbound and southbound Norwalk and Westport between exits 38 and 41. During the traffic halts State Police cruisers and crash trucks will be used to stop all traffic flow in both directions of Route 15 for 15 minutes at a time between 9:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. Four traffic halts are expected during the work hours.

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions.  Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.
