Bridge Joint Installation on Route 9 from Chester to Essex

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that a bridge maintenance project will be performed on Route 9 northbound and southbound from Chester to Essex, beginning Monday, August 17, 2020.

 

The project consists of bridge joint installation to various Bridges over Route 9 Northbound and Southbound from Chester to Essex.  This project is scheduled to occur Monday, August 17th, 2020 through Friday, October 30th, 2020.

 

This project is included in the Department of Transportation's bridge maintenance program to support state forces with bridge repairs and is being performed by Dynamic Surface Applications, Ltd.

 

 

LANE CLOSURE INFO

Motorists can expect various lane closures on Route 9 Northbound and Southbound in the towns of Chester, Deep River and Essex between exits 2 and 7 in the northbound direction and between 7 and 2 in the southbound direction.  Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone. The regular work schedule for this project is from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday. 

No work will occur during the Labor Day from Monday September 7th through Tuesday, September 8th, 2020.  Work will resume on Wednesday, September 9th, 2020, and no work will occur during the Columbus Day on Monday, October 12th, 2020. Work will resume on Tuesday, October 13th, 2020.

 

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions.  Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.
