CTDOT Announces Extension of Connecticut River Ferry Service

The Connecticut Department of Transportation announced today that service on the two Connecticut River ferries will be extended by an additional seven weeks, to October 25, 2020.

Because of COVID-related precautions and COVID-incurred deficits in the Special Transportation Fund, the service on the Rocky Hill-Glastonbury and the Chester-Hadlyme ferries was to end on Labor Day this year, September 7. However, because of the state's success in keeping the coronavirus in check, the season will be extended. Social distancing, masks and other COVID guidelines will continue to be enforced.

CTDOT will continue to monitor conditions and potential budget issues, and make additional changes/modifications to service as necessary.

The Chester-Hadlyme ferry is operating between 7 a.m. and 6:45 p.m. Monday-Friday, and between 10:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.  The Rocky Hill-Glastonbury ferry operates Tuesday-Friday between 7 a.m. and 6-45 p.m. on weekdays, and 10:30 to 5 p.m. on weekends.
